VUE CONFERENCE & EVENTS SHOWCASES THE POTENTIAL OF HYBRID EVENTS
Vue Conferences & Events recently hosted a large-scale hybrid showcase, bringing together 280 event organisersacross multiple UK locations to demonstrate how cinema environments can elevate hybrid event delivery.
The event took place simultaneously at Vue West End Cinema, Leicester Square, and Vue Leeds Light, with speakers and content streamed between the two venues. In London, 180 planners from corporate organisations including L’Oréal, HSBC, Facebook and UKTV, alongside agencies such as Hire Space, Hatch and Story Events, attended the Leicester Square event, while a further 100 organisers joined from Leeds. Both venues operated in line with the prevailing government guidance at the time.
The showcase centred around a screening of House of Gucci, using the film as a creative backdrop to highlight the technical and experiential benefits of cinema-based hybrid events. With Sony 4K projection and Dolby Atmos sound, Vue demonstrated how high-production environments can enhance both in-person and streamed experiences.
Commenting on the event, Rachel Macaulay, Head of Conferences & Events at Vue, said:
“This showcase demonstrated how a cinema setting can amplify hybrid events. With high-definition visuals, immersive sound, modern styling and quality food, it creates an experience that’s difficult to replicate elsewhere.”
Macaulay also highlighted Vue’s scale and flexibility, noting that the brand operates 227 venues across the UK and Europe, all with satellite capability, allowing content to be streamed between sites or directly into delegates’ homes.
Production support was provided by AP Events, who managed live streaming between locations. Fashion historian Amber Butchart spoke from Leicester Square, while Rachel Macaulay delivered her introduction remotely via Zoom from Ealing, with content streamed seamlessly between London and Leeds.
The event experience extended beyond production to hospitality and theming. Guests in London were welcomed with bespoke cocktails inspired by Gucci’s signature colour palette, alongside a curated menu designed around key moments in the fashion house’s history. The menu was created by The Caterers, with dishes and desserts themed to reflect the brand’s Italian heritage and distinctive aesthetic.
Feedback from attendees highlighted the appeal of the format. Hayley Nolan from ABN AMRO commented:
“This is the first time I’ve attended a hybrid event in a cinema, and it’s a fantastic experience. This format is clearly here to stay, and Vue is a compelling option for future events.”
